'HEARTS ON FIRE'
A man of a certain age, ZANE BANKS absorbed the sounds of the ‘80s and ‘90s from the back seat of his mum’s Toyota Corolla. Spending his youth in the single-minded pursuit of musical excellence in Jazz and Classical music at Sydney’s Conservatorium, and now at a point in life where nostalgia, dad rock, niche interests, and the desire to make something that resonates collide, Zane’s debut single “Hearts on Fire” represents a confluence of passions and influences.
Recorded at Harry Vanda’s iconic Hercules Street Studios, “Hearts on Fire” was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Pale Blue Dot’s Tim McArtney (Gang of Youths, The Vines, Teskey Brothers, Julia Stone, Hockey Dad) and mastered by 9 X Grammy winning engineer Brian Lucey (Artic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Ringo Starr, Sigur Rós, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams,) “Hearts on Fire” has had input from some of the music industry’s most exciting artisans.
“Hearts on Fire” is sonically opulent; it combines catchy hooks, poetic lyrics, iconic analogue sounds and an indomitable momentum, it was fitting that the accompanying film clip had to be equally cinematic to reflect this rich tapestry of influences. Directed and produced by the Mattes Brothers (Trojan Beach Party) the “Hearts on Fire” film clip is a visually arresting love-letter to Sydney.
“Hearts on Fire” is distributed on MGM.
